Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Feb, 2017 ) : Two ships C.V Al-Bahia and M.T Chem Star Masa carrying containers and chemicals were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday.

Meanwhile an Oil tanker Shalamar and Containers ship APL Charleston also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim (PQ) during last 24 hours. Berth occupancy was reported at the at port at 47% on Monday where a total of seven ships namely Al-Bahia, MSC Valencia, Chem Star Masa, U-Noble, Marco, Bunga Angsana and FPMC Fortune were occupied at PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Chemicals, Coal, Canola Seeds, Palm oil and Diesel oil respectively oil respectively during last 24 hours.

A record cargo handling was achieved at the port on Sunday where a cargo volume of 138,683 tonnes, comprising 106,269 tonnes import cargo and 32,414 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,404 Containers (TEUs) 698 imports TUEs & 1,706 TUEs exports) was handled during last 24 hours.

Three ships, Container vessel MSC Valencia, Chemicals carrier Chem Star Masa and Oil tanker FPMC Fortune sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships Container vessel Al-Bahia and Edible carrier Bugna Angsana are expected to sail on same day.

A total of seven ships, Maersk Harford, APL Charleston, MSC Esthi, Lumphini Park, Shamal, Nordic Gas and Shalamar carrying Containers, Chemicals, LNG, LPG and Furnace oil are expected to take berths at QICT, EVTL, EETL, SSGC and FOTCO respectively on Tuesday. While Chemicals carrier `Gaschem Antarctic' and Containers ships `Maersk Stepnica' are due to arrive at PQ on Wednesday.
